Default 5th Gen losing power in top end...

I have a '99 base 5-speed with 89,000km (approx. 55,000 miles?), and when Im in vtec around 6000+ rpm the motor feels like it is cutting out.
The power cuts in and out and makes the car shake alittle. I think I know what it is, but first I want to see if any of you guys experienced this or know what is going on.
I would really appreciate any help,
Thanks

How does it ride otherwise? Is it fine at other normal speeds? I'd say it's a fuel problem just by guessing at what you've said. Pump , filter, or a small leak somewhere. Some Honda engines are bad about blowing a fine crack in the head gasket, one you can hardly see. It makes the engine do all types of crazy stuff. I've seen this a lot on civics, but if your engine is running cool I'd rule that out.

Same **** happened to me about 3 months ago. Whenever I would hit vtec, it would lose power around 6000 to 7000 rpms, but then it just started working again on its own. I guess it just fixed itself.

Same thing happened to me and my 98 Prelude about 4 mos ago when my vtec would kick in it would feel really "weak" like it would hit vtec but wasn't strong like normal. I took it to the dealership and everything checked out fine and when I took it out with the mechanic I could not get it to recreate the problem and it's never happened since.

I've changed the wires. To no avail. I am going to change everything in my distributor tomorrow. What is happening with my motor is that it seems like I am losing power from 6000rpm and up. It feels like I have a B18C under my hood!! I could barely pull from a lightly modified Type R on the Highway. I raced this same guy a week before and literally beat him pretty bad. Now I can barely pull on him!! I dont know what is going on. I will update you tomorrow with how the car goes!!
