just new to the scene and my friend told me to do a turbo on my ZC in my ef civic. just wanting some info on what the set up would run with stock internals............... cheers

Well, internals on a zc can only hold up to around 200hp, and that's tuned.Afriend of mine just boosted his d16a1 (practically the same motor) in his teg and blew it to smitherins, and that's was only at 5psi. So be careful.Definately invest in Hondata or Zdyne engine management, well worth the investment.

Wow... 5psi and the motor blew...
Was there anything else that could had caused this??

The only thing i can think of is the boost crept up a wee bit too high. It was a total junkyard setup. I'm not sure of the setup because it was a friend of a friend and i'd never seen it. But a friend of mine was the one that put it on, and he knows what he's doin. He has an eclipse of his own that's pretty beefy. So the only thing i can thnk of is a faulty wastegate or something like that, that allowed the boost to climb. He said the thing was fast as hell before it blew though. He told me this just because i'm building my turbo'd ZC at the moment, and he knows i'm gonna be boosting 15-18 (fully built), so he said to me "however fast you think your car is gonna be, it's gonna be faster".

And out of nowhere, he says the teg zooms by and walks them both. Then i get a big **** eatin' grin on my face cause i'm gonna run 3 times the boost. Can't wait. a stock ZC should hold 7 psi with gaskets, and as long as its tuned. DSM turbo's are easy to find, but aren't the easiest to put on a Honda. DSM is Mitsubishi
. No matter how impatient you are, build your engine first. That way you can learn your engine also. Then you can run boost.
As far as the D16A1, wastegate is most likely the culprit. Or didn't have good pressure release, like the BOV clogged or something, and there was too much pressure when he shifted.

I'm just asking because I build my motor and the turbo is being put together and I wanna compare my setup to yours...

JE/SRP pistons?(SRP box/JE wrappers/JE quoted on bill 9:1 compression)
Eagle rods
JE total seal rings
ARP bolts/studs
Honda bearings stndr. size.
new everything...
14b turbo/hf mani.(getting a diff. soon)
FMIC/450cc inj. DSM/DSM fuel pump/AFC2 hack.
SI tranny/clutchmaster stage 2 clutch
I wanna boost 11psi. Where will that get me? WHP and 1/4 times??? Any ideas???

SRP pistons / Eagle rods (i think i should've gotten better one, but i'll soon find out)
Fully built head , modded to use b18 vavletrain
For the moment my turbo is a crappy t3 from a SVO mustang, it'll soon be a Precision SC34 when i get some money.
I'll be running 550 injectors with a Zdyne computer ( this comp kicks ***, i recommend it but it's pricey. 950, but well worth it. Try to do a group buiy, i got mine for 740 that way)
I also have a crappy intercooler, just a stock supra one. I have a nice front mount waiting, i just need endtanks welded on.
plus a ton of other ****.
For you runnin 11lbs, i'd say if it's tuned high 12's low 13's, 13's definately. I'm hoping for high 11's low 12's with around 350 hp. Hope those SRP's will hold up.
Oh yeah, and those ARP's you got, are those the VW ones or did ARP finally make ones for the ZC, i heard the did, but i haven't looked into it.

you guys are making me look like a pansy only wanting to run 8 pounds on my ZC
I recall a while ago someone posting their dyno slip showing roughly 180hp/190tq runnin about 8 or 9 pounds. as light as my/our crx's are weighing in probably around 1900 - 2000 pounds I'm sure Id punish just about anything on the road with just 8. 15 psi is insane but good luck and lemme know how that goes

You are correct sir, DH racing is the only shop i know of that is experienced in that valvetrain swap. Out of respect for Josh at DH i won't post the price he gave me, he hooked me up pretty good. But i believe it would cost around 1200 for the full crower valvetrain, modding the head to accept the b18 stuff, and a port and polish. It's well worth the money. A built motor is ABSOLUTELY USELESS without a head that can handle what the new motor can put out. But believe me i still paid a pretty penny for the service, but there great guys there, excellent customer service. I should have my head back in a week or so and then the beast starts to come together.

HAHA, you think 15 is insane. After i break it in i plan on runnin 10 for a little bit, then 15 and after i'm comfortable it's going to 20. I probably won't go past that, i'll have to upgrade my injectors to do that. But i'll be runnin a DSBC, so it'll be at 7 tp 8ish regular driving and 17-20ish racing. Ahhhh, i can't wait til it's done. All my friends are dreading the day it's done. We do alot of street racing in Detroit, we don't have the problems you have in Cali and other places. The cops really don't care about us. Once in a while they'll tell us to hang it up for the night, but that's about as extreme as it gets. But anyway my buddy has a 91 hatch like mine w/ a B16 on spray. Right know he's one of the faster cars around but he's counting the days til mines done cause he knows he's gonna be second best after me. Damn i can't wait. I'm sick of driving my chevy 1500 around.
