Default Integra 94+ rear speakers for coupes

The baskets in the rear of integra coupes are made to fit 6.5" speakers, but the basket is really wide.. My question is, is it possible to modify the basket to put in 6x9" speakers? Please post back, thanks..

I just put my 6.5" in and I can say you do have enough room. My question is why? What will be accomplished by a 6x9 over a 6.5"? IMO most 6.5" components and coxaials sound better then 6x9's.

Back to your question...you would have to shave off some of the plastic and maybe attach some MDF to make a suitable mount. Also the size of the 6x9 basket is larger and oval so you will have enlarge the hole in the stock plastic mount.

thanks for your feedback, the reason why I asked this is that I'm running Polk's in the rear but it doesn't give much bass flexibility (it usually has distortion on lower end bass). My friend with a newer altima has these rear 6x9" cf speakers (I forgot which brand) that he wants to get rid of because he installed subs into his car. They are real bassy speakers and it has a very large magnet powering them, so I was wondering it could fit in my car so I could take it off his hands so he could upgrade his rears to compliment his front MB Quart speakers. Anyways, I'll look into modifying the baskets, thanks again, peace,
