Default My Car Won't Start

my car wont start
i just drove down the driveway to get the mail and i came back and i pulled in to the yard and i parked it to wash it....and i got out and i was about to spray it down, but then i looked at it some more and it really didnt need one so i got back in and was going to start the car...i had the cultch down, in neutral, E-brake up and i turned the key and it didnt do anything
i did that a couple of times....still nothing
so i checked the oil and it was a little low so i filled it up, i let it rest for a little bit and i went to check it and it had settled and i want to go start it agian and it did the same thing.......
i dont know what is wrong it was just workin fine a minute before
noting happens, the motor doesnt even try to start?
does anyone have any ideas what could be worng?i never heard of this happening or seen it before
thnx

Check the tightness of ur positive cable and negative one at the battery. Just the other day my car did the exact same thing (turn the key and NOTHING happens except the radio and gauge lights come on) and i did some looking around and i could wiggle the positive cable. So i tightened it back down to where i couldn't wiggle it, and i have had no problems since.

find a good auto parts shop. they can check your starter and the starter solenoid to see if that's a problem. but it sounds like a main relay problem to me. my rex does that a lot as of recent.

i just went the other day to pick up a pizza. i came back out, car wouldn't start. it would crank, but woudn't start. i smoked a cig and then tried it, worked fine.

If nothing is happening at all then you either have a dead battery or you need a new starter. More then likely a new starter.

What happens when you turn the key? Does it crank?
If it doesn't then check your battery connections and starter. Also on one of my friends car (eclipse) the sensor under the clutch pedel went bad. Even if he had the clutch in the computer thought he wasnt pushing the clutch in, so it wouldn't try to start. That was the first time I have seen that. Try getting a jump or push starting it. If it starts take it to a shop to check out the starter and battery.
If it does crank over but doesn't start, then it could be alot of things. Could be relay, dizzy cap could of got water in it if you were washing under the hood, timing belt broke, ect..

did you here a pop, maybe a fuse went out, check your battery connection, then starter eliminate the cheap stuff first then go for the other stuff.

check to see if your fuel pump is whinning if it is, it will whine then shut off showing that is it working aka main relay good, if there is nothing when you turn the key, the main relay is probably bad. In that case replace it. The older main relays go out at the weridest occasions, causing alot of stress wondering what the Sam Hell went wrong with the car.

Could be the ignition switch/ or ignition wires. Try vigorously wiggling the key in the ignition and the wires behind it and call it a day. Ignition switches seem to be notorious after 10 yrs or so. The contacts become dirty and maybe even corroded. If it is, you could try cleaning the contacts, a lot of times that works. Or dish out 50 for a new one. Or it could be something else
