HIDs now illegal
How can they make them illegal, if alot of new cars come with them as OEM equiptment. I can see just if it is aftermaket, but even then, they want to ban them due to people being blinded and saying they are unsafe, so this would effect all cars, even oem kits. I dont know, i hope this falls through, as I am expecting the UPS man today, with my CATZ kit

i dont see the problems oon the HID.. since most are oing with the projectors now.. i understand some have HID without the projectors.. i dont see any problems with this.. ive basicly stared at most HID'splus since it ses "highway" im guessing this is mostly freeway complaints...doesnt most freeways have a deviders that eliminate this...if some of these complaints are on streets.. the best thing to do is prolyl slow the **** down.. they are prolly speeding to begin with from getting blinded...have they not take the drving written test.. if anything was to happen like that .. look away from it usually looking to the right of the of your lane...i bet its prolly the old people complaining..*just a joke*
I'm still buying Catz hids for my car and plan on selling them to people who modify their vehicles.
Most modifications are "illegal" for street...
btw Eric at liteswap is a good guy too.

"You can blame U.S. road-sign regulations for some of the HID glare. U.S. signs aren't universally lighted and don't all reflect light the same. Thus, headlights have to throw some light upward and outward, to make sure you can read overhead and roadside signs, according to federal regulations.
In Europe, home of most of the world's 2 million HID-lighted vehicles, glare seldom is mentioned. European road signs routinely and consistently are lighted, so headlights needn't beam up and, in fact, are required not to. That keeps the light out of other drivers' eyes."
thats who to blame.. they do more good then bad i say i agree with this

how are these illegal and not the blinding SUV lights that blind you as well...???? god i swear they're in it to kill us import enthusiasts....first they still ticket us for CARB legal stuff now they won't even let us change our headlights to something all luxury vehicles are equipped with? what's next? the smog laws in california make even stock cars hard to pass emissions....aiya!
All aftermarket HID kits come with the same "For Off Road Use Only" (not like that's ever stopped me from installing parts
) but if you get the HIDs that don't shine all blue or purple, but just bright white (like my "now old skool" since they don't make them anymore, 4300K HIDs), and aim them properly so they don't glare all over the place, you won't have any problems. I've had aftermarket Phillips HIDs on my 2 cars for over 2 years now, living and driving in Northern California and Southern California.... no problems to date with cops or anyone else.
