i drove 4 hours to check out an integra yesterday. i was impressed, the car looked brand new, drove perfect and i wanted to buy it. but before i went in to sign papers etc...i noticed coolant was leakin from somewhere(smelled it earlier but couldnt find it). i found it leaking at the top of the radiator, on the very corner of the drivers side. didnt like that, then i went to start up the car to move it back so i can see if there is any more leaking, and the dam key wont turn. you have to play with the key to get it to turn and even that wont work all the time. im thinking maybe the tumblers inside are locked or starting to lock. i told the dealer i would buy the car if they fixed it but they said im lookin at a lot of money to get that fixed and they may have to up the price. i really like the car but how much do you guys think im lookin at roughly? (sorry for the novel)
radiators are about $150. They usually add heaps due to hourly labour rates.
I cant say i know much about the ignition. My friend's integra had his keylock broken through an attempted breakin. I had the lock cylinder fixed for $35 at my local shop. I dont know if its the same or different for the ignition.

bluff the dealership, tell them you have another integra in mind you'd like to buy WITHOUT any problems with it, see if they still wanna up the price that much on the repair(s). there's no reason you should have to pay for something wrong with a car YOU DON'T OWN.

priceof the car im gettin it for was 7995; its a 96 gsr integra with 64K on it. i tried the wheel thing but that still didnt work. got the manager out and he said that something was wrong with it as well but they are supposed to get back to me about the ignition, they called and said the radiator is fixed. hopefully this works out and i can get this car!
Yeah thats crazy that they would try and up the price for the ignition key problem, tell them to take some money off or fix it, thats just rediculous, they're trying to sell YOU the car...

Good price, make them fix those problems, if they want to make the sale they will do it. All they have to pay for is the parts and the labor which they get alot cheaper than you or me.

Congratulations, when I was looking at my Integra, the battery was dead, and they wanted to charge me for a new battery and to install it, so I started to leave, and they changed there minds pretty quick and gave me a new battery!

sometimes if you park the car with the steering wheel turned, it'll lock the ignition. just turn the wheel back and forth and then start it. Maybe that was the problem for starting it?

He already stated above that he tried that. Anyway, I can't imagine a new ignition lock cylinder costing that much...

Ahh... the right touch to get the key out.
I explained this to my wife several times and she still calls me up whenever it got stuck. Worse, she even asked stranger for help when she can't reach me one time.
