shorten your gear ratio by using smaller rims?
well I was talking to another memeber about his topic and how having smaller rims you seem to accellerate faster and makes it seem like you have a shorter gear ratio.
I wanted to know what you guys though about this. Ovbiously this helps because I my friend gets better times running with 13" 20inch slicks than with some 15" with slicks.
Also which OEM 14" rims are out there as option that I could go with...delsol, crx teardrops, mitia rims
, crx sawblades, vx & CX?
How heavy are the 14' delsol rims? do they look alright on EFs?

a smaller diameter wheel/tire combo will give you shorter gearing. whenever you calculate the top speed in a gear, the tire diameter is on of the factors used in the calculation.
mph = (rpm * cir) / (gear * final * 88)
where rpm = engine rpm
cir = tire cicumference, in feet
gear = gear ratio of your car
final = final drive ratio of your car
88 = combines several conversion factors
so the smaller the circumference of the tire, the lower the mph per gear and effectively shorter gearing.
one thing to note is that you will acrue mileage faster (according to your odometer) b/c your tire diameter is smaller.

13" VX wheels are the lightest Honda OEM, and the sought after 14" HX are the second lightest. The 14" are more sought after because a greater variety of tires are offered in the 14" size. I am currently running a 195/60R14, which yields the same diameter as the 185/70R13 that came stock on my car. No, I don't get better, "off the line" with this tire and wheel combo, but I am able to find about any tire I want in 14" for 20% cheaper than it's 15" counterpart.

yes this is true it will also throw your speedometer off. With smaller overall tires and rims you will actually be going slower than what the speedo says. Just the opposite with larger than stock tires/rims
E.G. with smaller tires your speedo might say 60mph when you are actually doing 55 mph and with larger tires it will be the other way around.

1) how would i counter that effect so that my speedo reads more accurate? is there a speed cable/**** that i can adjust?
2)what would be the ideal rims size to go with for the most accurate speedo reading?

i don't know of a way to counteract the speedo/odo being off.

if you run the wheel/tire combo that comes stock on the car, that will give you the ideal speedo/odo reading. if you plus size correctly, this will still have the correct speedo/odo reading.
