Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix pictures
For those who don't know, every year there is a weekend of vintage racing through Schenley Park in Pittsburgh along with a huge car show on the hills of the golf course nearby. It's a great weekend with everything from pre-war cars to sports racers from the 60's and 70's. More info at http://www.pittsburghvintagegrandprix.com/
I've got about 200 pictures up at http://janice.fringe.org/pvgp , feel free to take a look. Here are some of the better ones:
Three-wheeler with some serious tires on, this guy was flying.
Another three-wheeler
Start of the "over 2 liter" class
More 3-wheelin', this time a beautiful Porsche RSK
Countersteer!
Enjoy!

I used to go to that one all the time. haven't been for a while.
the guy in the cream colored Jag 120 coupe used to drive like a mad man. all crossed up thru the turns and running down the big iron most times (cobras, hemi powered specials, etc.). that guy was brave and could drive....
fun fun fun watching the vintage races

Yeah that jag has the course record (in his class at least) for five years running now, he was tail-out around almost every corner--real fun to watch. It was fun watching the drivers wrestle with the wheel in the open-cockpit cars.
Any Formula SAE cars? I know we were invited but all of our cars are either being built or rebuilt.
Do you have any more pictures of the formula car. You have 4 good pictures at the top of page 7 but not wide angle shots.

Yeah CMU, Pitt, U Penn, and Penn State had their SAE cars there. I didn't see them on track though. The formula car was a Rahal CART car under a Rahal dealer tent, guess they were a sponsor. No wide angles, I was just looking at details and carbon work, sorry
It looked pretty old and beat up, I'm guessing it was last year's car or something.
Re: Cautious drivers--yeah you could tell some guys were just out for a weekend drive, but some of them were really flying--You could tell just by watching/listening to them go by. The BMW Challenge guys especially were fun to watch, but they're probably used to racing for points
