you can use your ex harness but you are going to need a conversion harness to plug it into the ecu and youll have to add a few wires in.

my EX harness?, I thought I was going to be able to sell that with the motor. Im just lookin for the simplest wast to do it without my mechanic having to cut anything, just basic plug and play.

EX harness. JDM B18C OBD1 into a 99 harness is not plug in play. First off, the JDM harness has all of the main connections, on the shock towers, backwards. You would have to rewire the entire thing. I wanted to sell the wiring harness with my old engine too, but it just isn't going to happen. Besides I figured a person who is going to buy that engine will probably be able to use there stock harness as well.

Also, you will need a conversion harness to go from obd2 to obd1. I thought that it was illegal to put an engine into a car that is older than the origional? Well JDM engines are illegal here too, so I guess it doesn't really matter. Good Luck!

Spyderzex is correct, not sure your emmision law, but here in S.Cali bottom line is if you have a 96-00 Civic w/a JDM motor then it wont pass period.

1st JDM ECU wont be read when it is hook up to a smog machine
2nd JDM Motors wont have all the smog related sensors, i.e. crank angle, secondary O2 etc..

Only way to pass is have a US ECU (Check Engine Light if use w/JDM Motor) and a US Motor, same year as your car or Newer. In your case if you have a 99 EX and you want a B-series it has to be a US Model 99-up, B16, GSR or a B18C5 Type R nothing older.

well I live over here in Maryland, and I yet to fully find out how much of what is enforced down here and how emissions works. I took to cars for emissions last year and have forgotten exactly what the process was. All I remember is that they put a fan infront of my car and a funnel behind my exhaust. Cant remember if they popped my hood. The emissions center is actually right behind my house i think imma have to pay them a little visit somtime before now and when I order my swap.

Ok I just came from the emissions center in my area. They said that although their are laws about the JDM motors and new year new motor, so long as the car passes I should have no problem. I also noticed that they do not pop the hood or anything. So what emissions components does US motors have thaty JDM ones do not?, and will it be possible to get them ?.
