JDM TYPR-R ECU,in 00 US GSR w/ JDM R MOTOR???????
I bought a JDM Type-r motor & haven't put it in yet,but can I plug the JDM ECU right in or do I have to get a harness??? What can I do about my cruise control,..will I have to take it out??Please let me know??
the jdm ecu is programmed for the 100 octane gas they have over there. You're goin to have problem if not blow codes. Just get a reprogrammed ecu from someone here.
NOT TRUE!!!!!!!!
I have a 98 GSR with a 96 JDM ITR ECU. No codes and no problems. Experience is the key!
You will have bogging issues since the GSR is a dual plenum intake and the ITR is a single plenum intake manifold. Use the Skunk2 Intake manifold and you'll be all set.

i think the plugs will not match (2000 is obd3), and i'm not 100% certain the wires do either. i also don't know whether jdm and usdm error codes are the same.
i think the computer will retard timing w/regards to the hi-octane issue. jdm itr motors have higher compression pistons do they not? not sure if you will get peak performance. just run the highest octane u can in your area and don't skimp!
where's kenji? he would know this easy.

All you need to do is modify the harness cause you can't use the JDM harness.
You'll need an adapter to switch the plugs i think. I'm not sure cause yours is a 2000. But the obd1 plug on my95 had to be modified to fit the jdm plugs for the ecu. You'll have to use your GSR wireharness unless you buy a USDM ITR harness
cause the JDM one is configured to fit in an ecu on the other side of the car :-p
