my motor seems to have picked up an intermittent rough spot during idle. the tach does not move, but i can feel the engine shudder through the car. it happens randomly every 2-5 seconds (no unusual sound) and seems to have started after i took out the power steering. the motor is internally stock and has timing advanced to 18deg and a header & cat. i did a valve adjustment almost 1000 miles ago, but i haven't noticed anything until now. the shudder is very faint but definitely there. any thoughts on what could cause it?

was power steering removed after valve adjustment? i'd try to re-check everything make sure nothing is loose or knocked of..

 

no cel. i can't imagine there would be any imbalance on the driveshaft with the p/s belt disconnected.

could poorly adjusted valves cause the motor to shudder intermittently? the motor sounds well adjusted and it was my 4th adjustment so i'm not a noob.

 

Check your plugs.

 

wild guess: battery? My car was doing that but the rpm moved. After I change the battery, it was gone.
