RealTime Racing Crew Chief Zimmerman Seriously Injured in Road Accident
Got this from the World Challenge website. Lots of Realtime fans out here and this is pretty bad news.

Oh no, thats horrible news. I met that guy at 12 hrs. of Sebring last year and he was super nice. Talked to me for awhile about the ITR power steering removal trick of pulling the PS pump and looping the rack. I also see him on TV usually every race there by the wall when Klienubing comes home with the checker. Bikes are really very fun, but people who drive cars really dont respect bikes enough. Very sorry about the accident and hopefully he will make a speedy recovery and good luck to RTR finding a new crew chief (hopefully they wont have to.)
This is very sad to hear. Riding a motorcycle on the street is getting less and less safe. Keep us updated on his condition if you hear anything.

I've been riging a motorcycle for about 7 years now and I think it's actually getting better. Since motorcycling is becoming more popular, there are more of them on the road. Due to this, it seems that car drivers are almost expecting motorcycles more.
Just my observation.
Really sad to hear about this story. Zimmerman is an incredibly nice guy and is usually open for talking to people who stop by the RTR tent. I've talked with him a couple of times at Mid Ohio. Hope he recovers.

I heard about this on VTEC.NET first...Its made me think that maybe we should get together and send cards and/or flowers to him at the hospital. There are hundreds if not thousands of Honda enthusiasts who are Realtime fans and Realtime has delivered time and time again with dominating performance. On and off the track these guys are true professionals and ambassadors of racing. Everyone who has ever met the Realtime guys has always left impressed and I think we should show our appreciation in this time of need.
-I emailed Realtime, if anyone knows a quicker way to get an address please post here
Come to think of it, I'd like to send flowers for Mark Lovell and Roger Freeman

Jerry was pronounced brain dead this evening at about 6:45, and healthcare will be stopped after organ donation per his wishes.
Just to note, he was wearing a good helmet and other protective gear.
The family did see many comments from here and the World Challenge site, and appreciates it. Not all of them (about 40 family members in all, including eight brothers and sisters) really knew how many friends were out there.
Any comments or whatever should be sent to Realtime. Much of the team has been at the hospital with us all weekend, and we'll see them at a memorial service when they get back from Sears Point (or whatever it's called now).
Thanks,
Andre
(Jerry's nephew)

I'm so sorry to hear this. I was also among the many who met Jerry at various events, and benefited from his generousity and wonderful attitude. This is truly a loss for everybody involved in the sport. My best wishes to you and the rest of your family.

Very sorry to hear about the loss. I met Jerry at VIR last season. Baonest, Sima, and I talked to him and other crew members for the better part of sat. morning before anything had started. He was very friendly and a real down to earth guy. I couldn't believe it when I read this.
The family and team of Jerry will be in my prayers

A truly unfortunate loss. I will definitely send a card to the hospital address. He will never know how many Honda fans he inspired but the least we can do is show our appreciation for what he and Realtime have done and what they represent.
I'm saddened by this news as well. I spoke with Mr. Zimmerman at the track once, and although I was just another enthusiast passing by RealTime's paddock space, he went out of his way to answer my questions in a friendly, polite, and professional manner. What a class act... World Challenge won't be the same without him.
FWIW I'm also saddened by this as a fellow motorcycle enthusiast (who also never rides without appropriate gear...) If there's any consolation, it sounds like Mr. Zimmerman passed away as the result of a hobby he loved. We should all be so lucky...
My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and team members.
Sincerely,
Jon

I ran some WC races in 1995 (Preludes back then) and the whole Realtime crew, especially Jerry, was very supportive. They offered some set up tips and gave us a spare rear wheel bearing at Road America, and after I damaged our car in practice at Road Atlanta, Jerry told us we could have anything we needed to get the car race ready. Unfortunately, what we needed was a spare "car", so we didn't make the race.
My prayers are with Jerry, his family, and the Realtime gang. So sad!
