my 4gen accord is acting up. even without the key in the ignition, the engine is cranking. it just keeps cranking but not acually running.

i gotta unplug the battery cause it wont stop cranking.

im thinkin its the whole lock assembly, that somethings broken.

did any of u guys ever have this problem or do u guys know whats the problem?

that **** is possessed. it's most likely some kinda glitch with your ignition, unplug your battery when you park in the meantime.

Sounds like a bad ignition switch to me. with the battery out, give it a few blows of the fist and turn it between the on and off position. See if it helps. If not, then take the shroud off the steering column, remove the ignition unit and clean out that switch. It got dirty on me before and the same thing happened. Yes, my accord has lots of problems.

I suppose it could be a stuck starter solenoid. But Hondas are also known for ignition switch problems. Disconnect the small wire from the starter, that's the one that comes from the ignition switch. If the starter still cranks, then you can't blame your ignition switch.

The starter solenoid is the smaller cylinder that's kinda attached to the starter. You unhooked the little wire & it still cranks? So you've already proved that it's not a bad ignition switch.

Disconnect both battery cables. Take off the starter, I don't know if you can buy the starter solenoid separately, check it out. Or maybe it's just stuck & you can free it up & lubricate it?
