Just installed my oil pressure gauge today. installed the fitting with teflon tape and there is no leaks. With the car at normal operating temp, guage is at 8psi at idle and 27 psi at 3000 rpm. I know the car burns oil but there is no leaking at all. What could cause this low pressure? oh ya, car is 95 gsr

 

Anybody???? I just changed oil today and went with a thicker oil 10w/40 and an rsx oil filter hoping to raise oil pressure but the psi stayed exactly the same.

 

Did you use a lot of teflon tape ? If you use a lot and it gets in the way of the hole, it could be slowing down pressure by the time the oil reaches the sender.

 

not too much. when you look at the nylon wire that goes to the gauge, should there be oil all the way up to the gauge?
