ECHC Guys Racing at VIR..
Its really not "that" bad.. Those AI cars are faster, no doubt, but they have to brake WAY sooner, which leaves a lot of room for us to slide in, and can't get on the power as soon either..

this is a race, not an HPDE, passing slower cars is a part of the ballgame, the HC guys have to pass slower traffic all the time that is not necessarly slow on the straight
if you can't make a pass in a corner then why exactly are you racing in the first place? (not directed at Track Rat, meaning in general)

Sounds like Iron weighs more than Rice.
Now, before anyone flames me, that was just a joke. I know HC cars are not rice and I plan to build/purchase one as soon as I get my comp license. Thank you and have a nice day.

Why don't we combine practice sessions with them to double our track time and see how things work out? If we like it, then we can schedule a race together. Just a thought.

Didn't say it wasn't possible, just frustrating. Yes, anyone worth his salt can deal with "slower" traffic; but when that same pig passes you back on every straight
while you are racing a guy in your class...frustrating. I'm not even racing in your series (yet) so my $.02 is just hot air, but I can tell you from experiecne that trying to race with with big bore/slow cornering cars sucks when you're driving a low horsepower car on rails! I don't know why you guys want to add more of it.
Side note: I ran with Viper Days last weekend so this subject is fresh in my mind!

Sharing the track with them critters is interesting. Fast on the straights, slow and twitchy in the curves, and small enough to fit nicely into every blind spot you have.

Well, I'm sure we are not getting our own rungroup, unless its a hyper fest.. So, would we rather play dodgeball w/ 944, Miatas and Small bore, or AI/Big bore cars in big bore..
Or just do this, H1-H2 in Big bore H3-H5 Small bore..
Either way, I don't care, I just have a lot of fun racing w/ those guys
If you remember last year, Alex was faster than ALL big bore cars, seeing as the cars are faster this year, and H1 has finally worked their bugs out, I see H1 cars taking overall in Big Bore...

Being in H4, *I* would much rather be in smallbore. I'm going to be enough of a basketcase out there for my first race without worrying about all the big iron flying up behind me.
Any idea which puts the slower HC classes in a bigbore group is not a good one. All IMHO as someone who has never raced before.
Mike <-- 6+ seconds a lap slower than Corey

What makes you say this? We had our own run groups all last year. Why is this year different? IIRC, we didn't have the numbers at CMP to justify our own group, but I thought as long as we have at least 20, we are on our own.
In terms of matching up car strengths and weaknesses, we are better off being paired up with the 944s and Miatas - they are less likely to ruin our lap times than the AI cars.

Why would we not get our own run group?? We always have, unless we have less than 20 cars. How many did we have last year at VIR-N... when we had our own rungroup.

Just what I have heard down the grapevine.. No own run group, unless hyperfest, could be wrong of course though..

Hmm... as of lately, that's about what I would expect from them.
By taking away our own run group, and treating us like some sideshow at a roadside carnival, they'll only lose racers.. guaranteed.

I'm In. ... Just not now.
This is way too big of a weekend.
John- who smells blood in the water. (hope it's not mine

H1- H2- H3 are going to be a war.

I think that last year you guys had a special spot. This year there is a lot more combined classes.
I amy be talking out of turn since I am not registrar anymore. I personally would like to see the ECHC/AI thingie. It would certainly add some excitement.
As for the really slow cars - the only thing that would hurt you is that you wouldn't get the same # of laps most likely which would be a bummer.
Splitting the H1/H2 into big bore would certainly be interesting. I will be pacing this weekend so who knows????

Ah, so if it wasn't bad enough that we don't have the 13/13 anymore, now we are on track with everybody else. Which means that we are no longer any safer than any other race group out there. Great.....

No rule can possibly make you safer on track. Only drivers with a general clue as to what they are doing and a respect for each other can do that. With talk like this, you are obviously missing out on 50% of this equation and that is unfortunate for others' in your race group.
