Default Free Icebox for Type-R's?

I've been checking out the resonator box of my R for the past 9 months now thinking this thing seems pretty damn good for a stock intake. I don't see any restrictions. The only flaw I saw was the gap in the piping inside the box to let the sound waves escape into the box. So I figured I would take the box apart and bridge the gap for smooth flow and better sound. WRONG!!! that thing is like freaking fort knox. There is no taking apart and cleanly putting it back toghether. So the extra box I had just sat in my garage staring at me and laughing. Then I flipped and went at it with a hacksaw and what did I find... A beautiful one piece pipe in the shape of a J with a flared end at the bottom. So I put the pipe by itself back in the car and checked out my new Icebox or mugen whatever you want to call it air system! I cut a piece of the box where the bottom mounting point was and fastened it to the pipe with silicon caulk. That way it could be securely mounted and wouldn't just fall out. I actually notice a little difference also slight power gain and slight noice gain. I'm happy. So my total for my intake so far is $35 bucks for the K+N filter I have in the stock box. I wish I had pics for you guys hopefully soon I will. Happy hacking!

I went and reviewed the vtec.net write up about making cold air intakes and like I remembered they are talking stealing from you home dryer to acquire some intake piping to make a CAI. My system is much cleaner and secure and I didn't have to use zip ties or anything. Thanks for the support NBP ITR 01-622! Like I said in the original post I will post some pics so everyone can see that you can have a CAI and dry clothes at the same time!

Dude TypeR 115 you don't take comments very well at all do you. I mean it's nice you want to share this and all but you seem a little too happy with yourself about your discovery. Just being candid that's all.

And I'm afraid BSQ beat you to it a while ago as well on Honda-Tech...

But damn, good thing you brought up your idea, because I can dry my clothes now...

Valid point and that makes some kinda sense, I didn't claim I did it first I just said I did it. At least you looked up on this site and you can say "Hey BSQ did that also dude!" and then I can say "COOL!" Otherwise you could just say "That has been on some other site for years" and make a fool of yourself and waste your own and everybody elses time!

EIN I went and checked out BSQ's system and that isn't what I'm talking about you just use the stock parts you don't have to buy anything. I'll try to take pics tomorrow and get them posted.
