Default JDM and USDM header

Aside from the difference in collector size. is there anything else different? I'm thinking about just cutting off the USDM 2.25 collector and welding on a 2.5. Would this work? I know this would save so much money.

One collector is shorter than the other (JDM longer).

Also that is not the only reason to get one, the Primaries are where the gains are.

First off the USDM is about 2" not 2-1/4". The USDM is a 4-2-1 manifold versus the ITR JDM 4-1 and I have no idea what size the runners in the cast manifold are. BTW, if you weld a 2-1/2" collector on, you'll need a 2-1/2" cat and a larger ca back, so it's going to cost some bucks.

i guess my question should have been, can gains be close to that of the jdm be realized if you put a 2.5 collector flange on the USDM header?

Don't think so. These two headers are completely different.....

mmmm, no, OEM is good, but you can't do much with it other than replace it.

actually you can get a JDM 96-7 specs header or just the bottom piece to bolt it to the USDM portion....this way you will get 2.5" collector

not all JDM ITR headers are 4-1 only 98-01 specs, 96-7 specs used 4-2-1 with 2.5" which is similiar to USDM in everyway but in size of the collector...
