Default Found oil in spark plug holes...

I changed out my valve cover and when I pulled the spark plug wires out and looked down in the hole I noticed oil in 2 of them. What would cause oil to be in there? I chaged the valve cover gaskets and the 4 gaskets that go around the hole for the spark plug hoping that it will fix the problem. I will be checking it out again tomorrow. Any suggestions? Also what are the best wires I should get for the Gen 4? Should I stay with stock wires? Thanks.

Yeah, if you replaced the spark plug seals at the same time as the valve cover gasket, then you should be cool. They can wear out every now and then, no big deal as long as you catch it and fix it.

As for spark plug wires, if you drive normally, the stock wires are fine. If you want a little more check out Magnacore.

i had that same problem in my accord, f22a motor, same one that is in the 92-96 prelude s. checked out the spark plug wires the other day, no oil in them whatsoever. i'm not sure i made that much of a difference as long as there is metal on metal contact between the bottom of the plug wire and the top of the spark plug.

I had boshe plug wires that replaced the stock ones....it seemed to idle a little smoother after, but no difference other than that. Nology wires claim that they increase power by amplifying the current, but i don't know how that would work. maybe just an excuse to get you to pay 150 bucks for plug wires........

go with ngk wires, they are the stock replacement. do a search on H-T for spark plug wires, you should find a link where they dyno tested spark plug wires. the stock 8 yr old ngk's out performed all the new aftermarket ones.

you have bad rings if oil is getting anywhere near the plugs and wires.

Na, bad rings are not going to let oil get on the spark plugs, a bad valve cover seal, ie: the little round seals that are separate from the main gasket that goes around the valve cover. If you replaced them, and still see oil down there, then you may have a more serious problem.
