Need help on car parts
hi i just got my 1996 prelude vtec a few months ago and i was interested in beefing up the horsepower. The only problem is that i don't know were i should start or what are the best brands. If you could can ya give me suggestions on fixing up my engine. tx
true dude. i would have flamed at you, but i know you are noobie. So, do a search with the keywords performance parts or something under the prelude forum and that is it.
Good luck, oh and throw a turbo.

well it will definatley be a daily driver but i want some more power, nothing like pure racing
i don't have a crap-load of money since i'm only 17 and soon to be college student but i can always save and plan ahead

what engine you have in there, i need the code, i am new at the 4th gen, but i can probably help you with starting at the cold air intake, dc cc headers, apexi n-1 exhaust, ngk or msd wire cables and ngk platinum spark plugs. Total on this is about $1200 if you buy it new, now used is a pain in the *** to find, not many people sell their exhaust.
I say you try groupbuycenter.com and try them out, low prices there, there are some other websites, but damn expensive when shippped and everything.
What else...im me. easier.

My suggestion is K&N airfilter, header, high flow cat, and cat-back exhaust. Should run around $1000 shipped to you.
Doing anything else is just going to bring problems. Just go ahead and read MOST of the questions posted on this site.
I quickly realized that making the Prelude something it was never intended to be is expensive and brings unreliability. Just have fun driving the car.
Just my opinion. Happy Luding.

While it's tempting to go for more power, why not go for less weight? Think of all the things you could live without (currently attached to the car), and remove them; the prelude is an inherantly heavy (read: portly) car, and removing unnecessary, or "comfort" weights not only makes the car better all around, but is: FREE. After that, you really shouldn't go beyond: exhaust, header, and a k&n drop in along w/ a removed resonator; then again, I enjoy cars that handle well, and not neccessarly go "fast."
