Coolant leak
Hi guys,
I'm posting this on behalf of my gf. She bought an 95 Integra GSI a couple of months back and the other night when she got home, she noticed the temp gauge was at H.
Lucky for her, the trip back from work is only a 10 min drive, and being winter here, she had the heater on.
When I got home, I checked the fuses that may have blown or any belts that may have come loose, but it turns out she ran out of coolant. I remember the car had coolant when we bought it, so sometime between then and now, the coolant has disapeared.
I'm hoping it's not a leaking gasket, but what other possibilities are there that may cause the coolant level to run out? and how do I check them?
Thanks for your help in advance.
Cheers,
Aaron

Well, a hose is the most likely culprit aside from a leak in the radiator.
Have you checked to see any remnants of spilled coolant in the engine bay? If its a hose, youll many times hear a hiss coming from the leak. Inspect the radiator for leaks as well as various coolant hoses...pop some coolant in, run it, and see where it begins to leak from if at all.

Might not have leaked out although that is a possiblity.
Check for coolant on ground.
The other possibilty is it "boiled"out. further investigation is required.

Boiling causes could be, amongst other things.
Bad water pump impeller.
blown headgasket
stuck thermostat
fan not turning on...........
