stripped the T-belt tensioner bolt (mini me)
i stripped the tensioner bolt. i have a new bolt but i need to get this one out before i put it in. there was a thread on this and this guy said
I found an easier way. Took a flat head screwdriver and slid the timing belt off and then move it 1 tooth that it was off and put a socket on the cam gear and turned it slowly worked perfectly. Dunno how hard it would be to do on a DOHC but SOHC was easy.
he did it without taking the tbelt tensioner off. the problem is i am also putting on a new timing belt with a different number of teeth. and that timing belt could have a different tension.
what do you think? go for it?
ima go get a vise grip from sears and try again
no luck on the vice grip. i put my car back to running order now. should i bring it to a shop to put a new bolt in and not torque it down as much? or should i just grind the head down and try to twist out the bolt by the threads?

bolt. anyone else who strips any bolt go to sears and get the bolt out thing. it is made by craftsmen and comes with 5 adapters. it took my bolt out with no problems. theres a link to it somewhere in the archives
how bad was it stripped,if it barely stripped, and aint rounded off,you can go to autozone and buy valve grinding compound $4,put it on the bolt and socket and loosen it,i know it sounds weird but try it,the compound bonds to the metal
