TONIGHTS 3 HOUR TRANNY SWAP.....
okay well after a lot of work on swapping a new b18 tranny into my b18powered CRX ive came across this.
The passengerside axle when we pulled on it to **** it out of tranny instead of prying it out, the boot streched and you can fee that its almost like somehting inside came dislodged, Im guessing i just put it back in the tranny and beet on her till it slides back into place??
my tranny has a code starting A1 wtf is that supposed to be ive never heard of it
2 litres of oil correct?
the two lines coming off around the speedo cable are for a oil cooler right? and they can just be connected together correct...
I ask these cause the last tranny I had the dif blew for no reason maybe too much wheel spin we thinking like 6 months after install...
THX guys and gals

more than likely you pulled the cv joint apart. I'd try to work it back together instead of trying to beat it back together. The shafts have splines under the boots and you could mess those up. Worse case take off the boot and put it back together then get new clamps
Honda trannies are 2.3quarts if im not mistaken. Just keep adding until fluid comes out of the hole.
As for pulling on the CV joint, from what you say, I'd say that you pulled the ball bearings out of the race (cage). Just drop it on the ground and they should go back in the cage. Or, with the axles in the car, you might be able to put it against your chest, use your hands and give it a good couple pushes to get them back in the cage. Get those bearings back in the cage otherwise your car will vibrate off the road. I did that once

Nope, no oil cooler there. Those hoses go to the power steering system.

really appreciate your help guys... I connected the power steering lines together and the CV joint havent worked on it yet but might pull the boot off if it doesnt go in quick here.

i had 2 quarts of red line synthetic in my tranny than changed to 2.5 quarts of honda MTF. result= with the 2.5q of honda fluid reverse goes in alot easer.

hold up on that cv joint...
there is a snap ring that holds the tripod (set of three bearings) to the axle shaft. you're going to have to pull it apart (gently open the metal bands holding the boot in place so you can reuse them) watch out for all the grease and don't get any junk in there, find the snap ring and put it back on if it didn't break. if it did, buy a new one. don't just jam it back in or work it back together. there's a ring that's supposed to be there. put it back.

i had to drop my crossmember to get the radius arm out of the way to get my ys1 tranny out.
As per the power steering connections, can those be left open to the air or do they really need to be connected?

Looks like the tranny oil question is solved.
On the CV joint, there are three bearings that are connected to a piece called the 'spider'. These bearings slide into the hub ONLY in a certain position. Meaning, if you were to try to put bearing #1 into slot #2, it will NOT go in. As far as the splines and the spring clip are concerned, it is IMPOSSIBLE to pull those out just by pulling on the axle. All you need to do, is to carefully massage the bearings back into the correct slots. Keep rotating until you find the right slots (there's only three). This is assuming that you haven't disassembled it yet.
Good luck ... email me if questions.
