Summit RPM switch to activate vtec
I would STRONGLY sugest converting to OBD1. I was scewing around with that same swich, in it sucks. Plus you will not have the proper fuel maps, unless you use some type of AFC.

please correct me if I'm wrong but the Summit switch doesn't have the loops for 4,6,8 cyl. There only for V8's and you have to cut the activation point in half.....like for 5000 you'd use a 2500 activation point etc
those are my diagrams and they are correct. They were ripped off my web site....
If you have not noticed, I indicated that in the first one, you need a ground converter. This conversion can be done with my converter or a relay.
The second digram shows how it's done wiht a relay.

well if thats the case drop the V-tec engagement point to about 2600 and wire a light to it and see if its activating. Thats probablly why its not working if you've got it set to 5200 on a 8cyl its looking to cut on a 10400 on your 4cyl
there are lots of timing changes in the vtec engagement as well as fuel alterations i wouldn't go rpm switch unless you can account for those changes. I've got a bud who makes chips specifically for this purpose pm if you want some info.
Dunno about the ''ground converter'' I just used a neg trigger RPM switch and a 30 amp relay. The relay always has the 12volts + and then when the RPM trigger send a signal its a ground- and completes the circuit and make what ever work vtec in this situation.

i am correcting u
yes it h as the loop cables
u have to cut them both
as for the RPM switch... U use all the cables except the gray oine of the switch. If u get the relay i am going to give the pin outs since the relays are not too explained.
Relay (5 pin or 4 pin one)
87 goes to VTEC solenoid
86 goes to the red on MSD switch
85 goes to yellow on MSD switch
30 goes to a 12V+
and BTW.. really important.. conect that white wire that reads the tach signal to the Neg side of the ignition coil. take the cap off and tap the white cable to the neg terminal. m,aybe thats why isnt kicking 4 u

I belive i hooked up everything right, I never cut any loop wires inside the RPM switch. Is this required and which ones do I cut (only 2 right)? Thanks for all the help!
next to where the cables come off the RPM switch there are 2 lil loops.... i beleive its red and blue.... the switch even comes with heat shrink, so u cut them and wraped them/. look at it... and also like i said check that u getting the RPM signal from the coil
