I went to the track, ran my car, did crappy, now i'd like for some help/tips on how to improve. Here's one of my timeslips.

what the hell is wrong? shouldn't i be able to hit atleast a 15.0 to high 14? My specs are:

1998 Honda Prelude SH
CAI
Cat-back exhaust
25 psi in front tires
no spare
1/2 tank
H&R 4gen race springs

I've never seen a i/e SH break into the 14's, so I think you're kicking yourself for nothing there. A 15 flat is the best I've ever seen, posted or in person, so your 15.3 is damn good IMO. I'd fish around here and also hit up the "Drag Racing" forum for tips on your launch.

 

thanks for the feedback kids. I've heard of a bone stock 97 sh running a 14.7 before but that was awhlie back and i don't know where it took place. I've seen some other 5gens run around here and they ran slower times than me so thats all good.

I saw a base model 5th gen run a 16.4, so...you could have done much worse dude. Someone may post that has seen/heard of better than a 15.0, but I know that I haven't heard of it, and if it wasn't actually witnessed by someone reputable, for me the doubt as to the truth of the stated time will always always there.

Kinda OT, but: Also, everyone that says they're stock ain't stock. Around my friends I discuss what mods I've done, but when someone on the street asks me at the stoplight, I almost always say i/e and nothing else, and only then because they can hear the cai and actually see the exhaust. To me, part of it is about not getting sized up early, part of it is about not getting jacked, and the rest is just because I feel that it's really none of their business...

It would be hard to lie about having a huge FMIC sticking out of the front, but if I ever come to that point I figure that's what Grille-Tech and twisty-ties are for...

 

Yeah, It was also at fireslick raceway in az, it's hot as **** down here.

 

i've ran a faster time than a 5g before when i just had i/e...and i can't launch for ****.
