Default Hidden exhaust?

i talked to some guy today at a tire place, and we got into talking about our cars. He had a 1996 V-6 jetta, which was really nice. We went to the back and he showed me his exhuast system. I was complaining to him about how i dont want to put exhuast system because of the noise. On his jetta he had an exhuast but his muffler looked stock. Is there anyway i could do that on my accord and still get full advantage of an exhuast system?

Jetta's run two mufflers - one is a premuffler/resonator (post-cat covertor), the second is a regualar looking conventional muffler (at the gastank).

I'm sure he just had the center premuffler/resonator cut off and a pipe welded in. When I had my Jetta, I did the inverse...i cut off my rear muffler, put a long pipe on and kept the resonator intact (lighter & weight @ center of car).
