H23 time to Re-Sleeve... or not? #2 & 3 rods snapped
I bought this engine for my accord for $300 w/ harness, ECU, & a severe knock. After taking it apart, the cause was obvious. The #2 and #3 rods snapped. Luckily, neither went through the block. Anyway, they did leave a 1/2" x 1/2" notch on both sides of the bottom of the cylinder sleeves. I already have a set of used replacement pistons, rods, and crank.
My question is:
if the notches are below the lowest travel of the second oil ring, and the engine gets good compression, do I absolutely need to resleeve?
The pictures are below, but they're kind of hard to see since it's not completely disassembled yet.

sounds good to me. I'm going to assemble it and do a leak-down test. If it looks good, we'll see how it runs...
