Alright, well here is the situation. I just bought a short shifter off ebay for my crx because the shifter i have right now, im pretty sure is the stock one, but its just cut down like half way and has a universal shift **** on the cut off shifter. So i decided to buy a short shifter off ebay.. but then i was reading and people say that short shifters can easily mess stuff up? Is this true? Any info would be great.. if you have a short shifter, tell me if its

I just got some ground control coilovers and im gonna drop the car a little more..
Where did you get the ES bushings? What exactly are the bushings (wow i feel dumb) Do you think the ones i have now will be alright, i think its just some ebay brand short shifter.. looks pretty nice though..

the ones you have now will be fine, I have some like 3a racing short shifter in my car, im gunna dump it for a DC just because they have a little bit shorter throw. But mine has worked good for me for the past 2 years.

So it wont like mess the tranny up or anything cause of the shifting being too fast or something, someone was saying something about that the other day somewhere on the boards here.
ive heard of that happening with like the skunk2 short shifter because the bottom is weighted or something. ive had mine for 2 years and the only thing that ever happens to my tranny is when i miss shift

I'm thinking of getting one too, but dont know which one to get. I mean should i get one that's for my car? or should I get one from an integra snice i have gsr tranny?
ive had a short shifter for a while and it does its job well. never had a problem outshifting or grinding or any other kinda problems. not exactly stock feel but pretty damn close. it just took a little gettin used to for a tiny bit, but not anything bad at all. imo it can only help.

Well obviously... but if you shift fast to begin with, the quicker shifting may be too much for the tranny.

i had a short shifter. got rid of it.. kept grinding second.. guess i just shifted too quick. my stock one works just fine. if you know how to work it, you can shift just as quick and precise..
I have a B&M SS, I've had for over a year now. I had an ebay shifter that was shorter, but since it was cheap aluminum it snapped while shifting- I wasn't even shifting hard. The B&M one is solid as hell, and it does work nicely. I would prefer a slightly shorter throw. The B&M would be a good SS for someone who needs a little more help reaching the shifter. I think it was a good mod, no ill effects to speak of to date.

I have a Hurst also, its great.
Also a lot of the supposed damaging of the tranny is just the drivers foot is too slow for their hand.

Even the cheapo Spectre or whatever that was on my car when I bought it was very smooth. I loved it. I have an APC on there now that has been shortened about 2" more (also in the car when I bought it)... whoa man, its like an s2000 shifter, just a flick of the wrist. Ahhhhhhh.

thats exactly what i meant by gettin used to it, you have to adapt again, the foots gotta keep up with the shifting, i see people do it all the time because theyre used to the old shifter. it may not seem like a big throw difference but it kinda is. thats how the trannys get jacked

A short shifter will never mess up your tranny, it will always be driver skill as the cause. As was mentioned before you just have to learn to use it correctly.
The reshaped short shifters are nice but for a true short shifter you would have to also cut the shifter down and rethread it. Anyone who has ridden in a Z3 will know what a true short shifter feels like. Your hand actually rests in a cupped shift boot because it is so low. With new bushings the shifts feel more like they click into place rather than the mushy feel. And lastly the only difference between the Integra and Civic short shifters from most companies is a single (Civic) or double (Teg) bend in the bar. Get the shifter that is for your car, as the mount will not change just because you have a different tranny.
