Titanium retainers with mild cams. Still a wear issue?

I know that Ti retainers must be checked for wear often, but is this mainly because very aggressive cams are being used? With a mild set of cams such as Skunk stage one would they wear any more than stock?

I'm fixing to pull the head and was just trying to figure out if it is something I should look into while it is off.

I've been using Skunk2 stage 1's with Skunk2 valve springs and Ti retainers for over 35,000 miles. I haven't noticed any abnormal wear.

Here is some food for thought.
When I purchased my ITR I did not know I had Portflow Ti Retainers in them. I purchased the car with approximately 26,000 miles on it. I do not know how long the retainers were on the car prior to the sale. I was at 45,000 miles when I had to replace them. They were running on the stock valvetrain. I got a chance to inspect them and yes they had some galling affect. But there was still a substantial amount of material left on them.
If you really want to go with the Ti Retainers, just get them TiN coated and you don't have to worry about it.
I, on the other hand, use stock retainers on my setup.
