Default Is my b16a OBD1 or OBD0

I hava 88 civic EF with a first gen b16. But from what I heard there can be a first gen that is either OBD1 or OBD0. How can I tell which one it is? Through the plugs on the ECU? Anyone have a picture or diagram of how it looks like compared to an OBD0?

Thanks.

2nd gen is OBD-I. 1st gen is from 89-91. Look at the stamp on the cylinder head, above the exhaust maniold it should like this x/x or 8/9 for 89 or whatever year it is. Another way to tell is that OBD-I B16's have grey connectors for the distributor, where OBD-O have milky white ones. On the valve cover "VTEC" is larger than "DOHC" as well, on the OBD-I engines. Easy ways right there.

EDIT: if you want to look at the ECU, with OBD-I there will be 3 grey ones instead of a white one and a black one (black one has 2 plugs in one) for OBD-O.

awww crap. "DOHC" is bigger than "VTEC"... so that means I have that crappy OBD-0.

Thanks for the feedback.

No problem. Did you check the other stuff? Are you sure that it's not just a first gen valve cover?

But how is an OBD-O B16 "Crappy?" Sure it's not as powerful as a 2nd gen one, but they're still good engines with TONS of potential.

How many o2 sensors are on the manifold/down pipe? If you have two, the motor is obd 0 and if you have only one sensor then most likely obd 1.

potential? those bottom ends only cost 5 bucks

But I must admit it is pretty quick and reliable for a cheap 1.6L
