Default OT (Sorry): some current pics of cars in China

Some pics I snapped while I was in China; these were all taken in Shenzhen, but is fairly representative of what you would see in Shanghai or Beijing. The only exception is the presence of SKODAs in Shenzhen. The Fabia actually looks pretty nice. Import cars now have a tariff duty rate of 120%(!), yet you still see some new rides (Mercedes S-Class especially). All left hand drive too, not driven in from HK.

My ride/driver in Shenzhen; Lexus GS300 with TOM'S intake, exhaust. Some kind of JDM 17 inch rims with Kumho tires (replacing his Dunlop Formula 901s). Fujitsu/Eclipse Double-DIN head unit with the built in TV monitor on the face plate (no need for the flip up screen).

New Mercedes S-class (HK model) and BMW 528i

Audi A6 (2.4l) - the most in demand car MADE IN CHINA; 9-12 month waiting list. VW Passat also a very good seller.

My ride into Hong Kong (VIP lane - clear Customs sitting in the car - no waiting in line @ Lo Wu bridge ); Toyota Previa:

Hey Kengs sup? You did any major shopping the day after? The weather gets better eh? Better than what I expected.

So let me know how the things work out there?

Haha. I'm 6'1" and 205 lbs. I was probably that big in the 5th grade

Cosworth,

I'm not sure if I can make it yet. Will let y'all know.

Roads in China are atrocious. If you look at the Audi A6, you will see it has a higher ride height than the US version - specially engineered for Chinese roads.

I wonder if any of those rides were stolen from North America...
A while back a whole bunch of Audis were stolen from the Toronto area only to be found in China later.

I only saw one (1) A6 2.8l - it was in Beijing. All the rest were either 1.8l or 2.4l, made in Shanghai. I hear BMW is planning to open a plant in Laoning.

Actually, it's a sticker from his tuning shop (GT Shop); no doubt where he got his inspiration
