Default Ok put in new MC, brakes work, but they suck...

So like many people said with my problem of my brakes locking up I replaced my MC. Well I put a new one in and bled the brakes and it does a similar thing it did before. Its like it won't stop the car until the pedal is pressed almost if not all the way to the floor. I also hear like a metal ping sound sometimes. Do you think now its time to adjust the push rod? I think that perhaps the rod is hitting my MC. Perhaps I got an ABS booster and I know the MC is not-ABS. Anyone know if you can tell just by looking at it?

do you think you could keep all your brake related post in one topic, this has got to be the 3rd or 4th brake post, it also is gonna suck when someone does a search for brake help.

so give us your entire setup, im having a similar problem,
i have a 91 crx si with hawk hps plus pads all the way around , new rotors and stainless steel lines,

i put all this in expecting wonderful brakes but they dont seem that great.

how are you bleeding the system? do you have another person helping you, are you bleeding in the correct order?

driver front, passenger rear, passenger front, driver rear?

I had the same problem, it ends up that the MC was fine all along - but I did get a new one out of it. There was a little hose that's connected to the MC (I have no idea what it was, had a mechanic do this) but this hose was ballooning like a brake line, but its not supposed to. We replaced this, brakes work good as new

but all of this after replacing a whole caliper, all the pads, 2 of the lines, 2 new wheel cylinders - yeah brakes suck

for your problem I would say it's your MC holding you back, it's only pushin so much fluid - upgrade it to a 90-91 EX one

Here is my setup...

-Stainless Steel Brake Lines
-Brembo Blank Rotors
-Integra Booster
-Integra 15/16 MC
-Rear Disc Brakes
-Integra Prop Valve

Everything worked fine until I put in the Booster and MC.

Now my problem seems that I can't bleed the front passenger side line. I use a vacuum pump and suck and suck and suck and it builds up a lot of pressure but no fluid comes out. Then I had my brother pump the brake pedal and still nothing came out. My brakes work but I have only 3 working so the car jerks to the side when I have to brake. Its probably really dangerous.

Actually the right way is passenger side rear, driver side front, driver side rear, passenger side front.

I don't know of any hose coming off the MC. There is a vacuum hose on the booster but that isn't my problem, that is hooked up and is ok.

according to the helms manuel proper way is like stated above by slowpokesi ... 1-driver side front 2- passanger rear 3- passanger front 4- driver rear

it was just kinda weird i was viewing this post and i had the manuel sitting right in front of me on that page...lol i was lookign for something else but since there was a discrepency I thought i should clarify.

If you would like me to scan the page so you can see the diagram for proof id be glad to ...

good luck with your brakes man

somewhere I read stated to start furthest away from the MC, others stated the way you said... does anyone know if it really matters?

i always start from the furtherest caliper away from the MC and work my way forward. i haven't ever had any problems doing it this way.

Chiltons said do it like I said to. I did it like that before and it was fine. Why is it that you have to do it like that? But yeah scan in that Helms manual. I rather do it the way Honda wants then the way dumbass Chiltons does.

Is it possible that if my caliper is damaged it won't let fluid through?

Did anyone think too bench bleed the MC before putting it on the car. This is so there is no air in the mc before attaching it to the car.

Yes, you need to bench-bleed MCs before installing them!

OK in my Chilton and my Factory Honda CRX manual (same as helms) it says passenger rear, driver front, driver rear, and passenger front. I wonder if maybe the online manual is different??!!

*EDIT* I will try to get my manual and scan the page tonight.

you don't need to bench-bleed it, but it does save a big headache

Try pulling the bleeder out completely and see if fluid comes out... I have seen the bleeders get clogged up if left uncovered..if so, a drill bit can be used to clean it out..
Check and see if the "caliper pins" (what the caliper bolts up to) move freely
in and out..The caliper has to be able to "float" or it will cause some strange problems..
I would also check the calipers to make sure the pistons are not sticking..

Are you SURE, oh evil one?

If so, why do all the manuals specifically call for bench bleeding?

That reminds me... when I was bleeding my brakes the other day, I couldn't get any fluid to come out of the driver's side rear caliper. It was just trickling out. I finally managed to pump it enough that the fluid was filling the tube, but it wasn't squirting out the way it should.

Thoughts? (sorry, jacking the thread)

Well today I bought a set of new front brake calipers. That one caliper in question was giving me problems so what the hell replace it for a couple bucks. And I did take out the bleeder screw on it all the way and nothing came out. To me it seems logical that that caliper has something internally wrong with it. But its like 15 years old so why not get a new one, what the hell.
