Default doing a slight rebuild on an LS. need advise.

hey everyone. i now have an LS engine in my garage waiting on a transmission so i can drop it in my EK hatch. I am goign to do a small tear down on it so i can replace some of those hard to replace parts before i stick it in the car. i bought it from a junkyard so they cut the timing belt i planned on replacing it anyway. i am getting ready to pull off the head to replace the headgasket even though the motor has 27K on it. Just wondering what else you guys think i should replace on it before i put it in my car

well if you plan on racing..then i think u should get some higher comp pistons and mill the head a lil if you wanna go all motor but if your thinking of FI then i guess you probably already know what to do..its really up to you though..if you plan on going all motor then i can give you some advice because thats the route i went, whatever you do have fun and good luck

I am currently building an LS. I am replacing everything in the engine, but thats just how I do it. It depends on your future plans for the engine. Throw in some CTR pistons while that head is off and you'll love it.

You might as well replace the water pump and spring tensioner pulley while you are doing the timing belt. Before dropping my LS in I also replaced EVERY rubber hose on the engine...I just went to Auto Zone and bought a few feet of every size hose they had. Replace spark plugs, wires, distributor rotor and cap, change the oil and filter, oil pan gasket if it looks any kind of leaky down there, valve cover and spark plug gaskets, thermostat...basically all the cheap stuff while the engine is out of the car and easy to get to.

listen to this guy, he's got the right idea you might as well do all of this while the engine is out

alright well. i think i have decided to sell this motor and save up for a full swap that i can just have a shop drop in. it would be nice to have a gaurantee the engine will run good. so if anyone would like to buy an LS motor for 400 it is up for grabs.

b18b1
everything from the intake manifold to the oil pan is included. all internals, and i believe almost if not all sensors are still there too.
