does anyone know how i can change my dash lights to orange? i have a 93 hatch....has anyone done this to their civic yet. i wanna keep my same cluster and climate control. i just wanna change the color of the dash lights. can anyone let me know how its done. (did a search.......wasn't specific enough) thanks in advance

i did it on my friend's sol, we just removed the bulbs, and painted them with amber glass spray paint..
looks just like the JDM amber caluster

when you removed the bulbs did it have some kind of blueish coating on it(cause mine did), that can peel off.....did you take the coating off, or did you leave it on...then paint them?

 

man i gave up on mine...my paint kept fading...it looked nice for the little time i had it though

i called honda today......but he said that he had none to sell me....i was like WTF......will the newer civics with the amber dash light bulbs, fit on my 93?

i forgot what paint i used...i think it was the same i used for my tailights..i dipped the bulb in the paint, and that lasted about a week...then i tried a permanent red sharpie, and that lasted about another week or two...i would change the bulbs but i honestly do not know where to get them or what size they are...

 

you're talking about the blue condom? yes it did have it, some had yellow one too..
the paint we use was some japanese amber glass paint, which is temper treated, so it works great with heated glass light bulbs

They actually dont sell amber bulbs, their are 2-3 different size on the honda cluster. I did this on a Del sol, but i think the EG uses a amber film or some **** in their cluster, not too sure.

 

go to wal mart in the crafts section. They have paint that's made specifically for glass and it holds up to heat VERY well. NO fading or anything. It comes in a kit with about 8 different colors.

 

i took the blue condoms off mine, then used this model paint paint that comes in a jar and just dipped the bulbs in 4 times. the paint is called TAMIYA COLOR, color number is X-26. works perfect. used if for my temp control too.

better yet go to a junkyard and get the condoms out of a BMW guage cluster it was alot easier
