take out the whole unit and take it to a dealership. they should be able to get it for you. my friend took one to a dealership and got the code in a matter of minutes. didnt ask for VIN, ID or anything
the only place to get the code if from the dealership. they need the serial number off the radio and most of them will require title to show you own the car. but hardley ever check the title so you can bring any honda title and they will look up the code. but you hav to go in in person. and dont say "i just bought this radio" "say i un pluged my battery and now it wont work it says code" trust me it will make things easer.....

The original owner should have the code, probably easier to contact them.. assuming it didn't 'fall off the back of a truck'. In which case, you deserve to have lost your $$

Depends on the dealership.
BTW, theives don't care about carefully removing the radio, if they want it, they'll get it in less than a couple minutes at max.

what should i do now?
they are not doing anything for me they opened my file, and told me they can't doing anything, they only can see my old code, and they told me don't have access to anything like a "CODE DATABASE" or "Code generator".
If you are close to a good dealer or work at one, can you please recover the code for my radio at your dealer??

Why dont you check with the bodyshop? They had to have the code when they installed it for you the first time.

It does not cost anything to get a new code. Basically your dealership is dicking you around. What happends if they can't find the code (which are logged in to "Honda com") is that they can install a new code and reprogram the radio. The code is for an anti-theft device.
Do not tell them that you bought the radio, tell them you disconnected your battery (it will make your life a lot easier). Generally they don't ask for ownership or proof of purchase or anything like that. I mean it is not like you are getting new keys!
Also generally the code is at the back of the radio, did you pull it out and check this?
Where abouts are you from? Are you in Canda? If so, PM me and I will check it for you.

Ok...so, you are going into a dealership saying "I disconnected my battery and my radio asked for the code. So, instead of driving the car the here with the radio already in it, I went through the trouble of taking the radio OUT then brought it to you?"
Also, what sense would it make if the code needed to unlock the unit was on the back of it?
There are other ways the dealer can get the radio code if it is still in the car it came out of orginally. I wont mention it here, but lets say it is car/radio specific.
If I worked at the dealer, there would be no way Id just hand out the code to anyone that came in with one out of the car saying "I disconnected the battery and now I need the code."
Oh BTW yes, each radio has a different code.

Seeing as how I have access to her car...I even have my own key.... how can I look up the code by looking at numbers in the car...is that even possible, I've heard it is

i work at a dealership and i know all about radio codes. i am the one that gets them. not to beat this thread to death but i have nothing else to do right now. you have little chance getting to code over the phone ill tell you that right now. if you go in, in person, with the radio and give them a insurance card they rarely even bother matching up the two numbers. anyways any honda can get you the code unless the person behind the counter does not know how to do it. i will say that some times the code is not in the system "VERY RARE". also if a radio has been properly reported stolen "if it was the case" they code will be removed from the system and it will take some doing and some phone calls to get the number. like i said any honda dealer can get you the code. sometimes all you need is the vin. if the car has been properly stocked in at the dealer the code will be attached to the vin so you wont have to pull the radio. and if you guys ever lose you keys they can cut a copy with the vin number but only with a copy of the title and your I.D. that matches the name on the title. that is the only way to get a key. so there you have it and im out
