Maybe u can help me out some more. This guy im buying the motor off says the motor is a 98 jdm b18c(gsr) which it is jdm motor but when i look at the head it says its a 96 motor??? And i also got this from like 3 other people? The second is a 95 but stamped 93, the third is a 99 but stamped 97 or 96 not sure? and so on.
Are these trying to rip me off?

remove the exhaust manifold heat shield, and right above it, there should be a circle with the year of the motor on it. ie.. 98,96 etc... Also make sure the block has a ckf sensor around the crank pulley, to ensure that the motor is obd2 and probably the same year as the head.
search. i believe it says on the exhaust side of the head right under the heat shield ( if there is one ). if it says 9/7 its a 97 motor, if it says 9/6 its a 96. and so on.

He states the engine is a 98 but the stamp on the head says its 96 and thats with other engines he was trying to sell me. He says thats how its like in japan, it could be a 98 motor but the stamp on the head will say its a 96 or 97??WTF. Is this true?
