Default Does compressor and turbine side have to be on certain side?

I'm test fitting how I'm going to make my manfold, I've noticed on a lot of people's setups the put the turbine side on the right and the compressor side on the left. I plan on putting the compressor side on the right it stinks that the air filter will be on the right side but then it will be on the correct side for the IC pipe coming out.

Does it matter if the turbo is flipped one way or the other?

Go for it, there is no real harm to mounting the turbo that way.

Thats how mine is mounted, the filter is the only pain but it does make the downpipe and chargepipes easier to run. My charge pipe goes pratically straight into the intercooler. I have a slightly smaller K&N cone that barely fits behind my drivers side headlight and putting the filter on the turbo itself will be impossible with most cone style because of the frame. I have been wanting to try an hks mesh/mushroom type filter because they are not long at all and look like they could fit in there.
