Default 8 injectors w/ 2 fuel rails

I'm trying to find a solution to making serious horse power while maintaining decent fuel economy. Does anyone know of any solutions to run this setup? I'm thinking you run the stock injectors and ecu for below boost, then start adding fuel with a stand alone above the stock injectors maxing out.

thoughts....

yes u can do that, just need an appropriate standalone that will run 8 injectors. tuning becomes a pain,. not needed for a street car

Edlebrocks SOHC kit comes with an additional fuel rail and injectors.
Street kit.

It really depends on how much power you plan on making. I recently tuned a Haltech car with 4 720cc injectors that still gets 30mpg on the highway and ive heard similar stories from hondata people. what are you planning on doing?

but I'm thinking this is perfect for a street car. 90% of the time you're running in vacume with stock injectors and ECU getting near stock fuel economy. Get into the boost and have enough fuel from you additional 4 injectors and stand alone to keep air/fuel correct.

I know you can just run 4, 750 injectors without all this hassle but the bigger you go the worse your economy gets.

I wasn't aware that 30mpg is achievable with such large injectors. goal is 500hp daily driver, 30k miles a year.

There's no real need for that. You can get the same driveability w/ 8 500cc injectors as you can with 4 1000cc injectors...

it's all about tuning!

i had an 8 injector set up and i can't say the gas mileage was any better than if you had a properly tuned 4 injector set up. throttle response and driveability is amazing though. haltech ek6 supports 8 injectors(i had one), rebic 3 supports additional injectors piggybacked onto a oem/hondata ecu as does the haltech f5 additional fuel control set up. inlinepro can set you up with a sheetmetal style intake manifold that accepts 8 injectors if you decide to go that route.

yeah as a replacement, not an add on.

just get big injectors and tune the **** out of the car and you will be fine...addition injectors is to much a hassle IMO.

i remember when aem first came out, a supra shop in chicago called sound performace got one of the aem guys to come down and tune one of the supra's with the ems installed...it had something HUGE like 1000cc+ size injectors and they tuned it in so it got mileage like stock when you were out of boost.

Hey Jinxproof I was going to go with a 8 injector setup on my sohc turbo, I already have a tuning device called a Turbo Link that control's up to 6 extra injectors and it can retard timing where needed has its own MAP sensor.

Anyway I was wondering where is the optimal place to put the extra injectors? I was going to weld 4 bungs onto the intake runners as close to the stock injectors as I could, do you have to get the injector on a specific angle like the factory ones or will just firing downward be good enough?.I was just going to run T'd fuel line to the extra injectors rather then making up another fuel rail...

Setup like this be good enough for 300whp on a 9:1 C/R sohc?<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by jinxproof99 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">i had an 8 injector set up and i can't say the gas mileage was any better than if you had a properly tuned 4 injector set up. throttle response and driveability is amazing though. haltech ek6 supports 8 injectors(i had one), rebic 3 supports additional injectors piggybacked onto a oem/hondata ecu as does the haltech f5 additional fuel control set up. inlinepro can set you up with a sheetmetal style intake manifold that accepts 8 injectors if you decide to go that route. </TD></TR></TABLE>

I've been running rc440cc injectors for about a year now and get 30+ mpg, depending on how I drive. I maxed them out at 344whp and am getting ready to upgrade but I am happy with idle and mpg with just 4 injectors.
