Default ok daily driver turbo setup....

Well I had one post about wether or not to sleeve my SiR motor for about 10-15psi....so here is my thought now.....

I want to get the block decked, honed, hot tanked, and possilby bored out just .5, and get a block guard

now the questions....
Best block guard for your money!
From reading it seems like ppl running cr of anywhere in the 8:0's arent very happy with there numbers. I want a daily driver motor and have it last for at least a year! So with that in mind should i stick to the 8:0s so I could later on have more boost....or just bump it up to like 9:1? I only want to make 250hp an/or mid to low 11's...What cha guys think? Im not going to sleeve the block FYi!
Thanks!

run 9:1 9:5 or 10:1 stock gsr compression. u can make the power on the stock sleeves, replace your rods. get any blockguard you want, have it machined to match the coolant holes in teh head. try golden eagles block guard.

i say dont even worry about the block guard, go 9.0 to 1 with rods pistons and headstuds. Leave the bore standard 81mm and keep your stock sleeves as strong as possible. See my sig. i made 240 whp with rods pistons and headstuds on a standard bore and the car is very reliable and fun on the street.

Just boost it and go. Get hondata or other eng. management. 250-280fwhp should be fine on stock internals for a while with good tuning. Rods-pistons for more reliablilty under 300fwhp should go damn near forever without detonation.(relatively speaking)

Go with high compression for a street car, faster/lower spool rpm

i also agree with boosting a stock motor if you have engine management. But it seems you are set on building. You can BTW see 300 whp on a stock motor with the right setup and tuning.

Thanks guys!
I just want to be sure that this motor will last if i do it right.....9:1 @15psi sounds safe from what you guys said. (this is my first motor so Im going by what you experienced have said) I cant afford sleeves and it doesnt seem like a lot of these guys out here are using sleeves. i can afford a block guard so ill pick up the STR one...

So the bottom end looks like this:
81mm, Crower Rods, JE 9:1 pistons, STR block guard, ARP Head studs

Again 11-15psi, dyno tuned; VERY possible to pull mid to low 11's an/or potential to make 250-300 at the wheels?

Sorry guys; I just dont want to pull this motor after a few months of havin fun.....Input is ALWAYS welcomed..

Thanks
Nick

Low 11's in a g2 teg with only 300whp you will be lucky unless the tegs stripped butt nekked. But having said that you should be making more power then that at 15psi and with that setup you can pusg more boost anyway.

Make sure you get that blockgaurd put in place by someone knowledgable or that will be the one thing that will give you problems.

since you re planning to take your block apart anyway, why don't you just sleeve
it while you're there. If your stock sleeves do crack you're assed out and have to take the block apart all over again....might as well get it right the first time.
Keep in mind your motor can be built to hell and still blow w/ out the proper tuning.
Also w/ 300 whp will be hard break 11's unless you have a really good tuner and a light car.(IMO of course)
