Default Installing header on DOHC ZC

I just got the header for my DOHC ZC, and i was wondering about a few things. Can someone just go quickly through what i need to do to install. Any kinda of stuff i need to use to seal the gaskets on. If the header has 2 oxygen sensor ports, and i only have 1 oxygen sensor, how can i hook up another one? Also, any other info would be great. Thank you!

which header? it should already have a gasket with it where the top and bottom connects .you're gonna need to get a new header gasket though.if you have a zc ;you're only gonna need 1 oxygen sensor.

What header did you get? Don't only OBD-I and II cars have the dual o2 sensors?

you'll need to remove the fan, and unbolt teh header from the motor & cat - it's a pretty easy install.

i wont need to remove the fan permanently tho, correct? Also, i got a header made for the d16a6, its a 4-2-1 SS AutoChrome.. here is the link to my auction, im pretty sure it should fit. It also came with a header gasket and "downpipe" or whatever gasket.

ALSO Where should i put the O2 sensor, on the top port, or the bottom port on the header?

i have the same header, and no the fan only comes out for installation. you may also need to temporarily bend the ac lines.

*Edit* the O2 sensor goes in the upper portion where the bung is. It's pretty easy once you do it once.

I have never took of a fan to put on a header or heard of this nonsense.... with or without AC...

You may need a new donut, it goes between the header and the cat.

and the o2 sensor is already on the down pipe...so unless your fabbing up one why are you asking where to put it..?

I still want to make sure im installing everything correctly and learn as much as i can, sorry for commiting a crime and wanting to learn something LOL

Anyways, on my crx, the o2 sensor is right by the oil stick thing (the thing used for checking oil) Right by where the heatsheild is. Im gonna be installing tommorow, ill let you all know how it goes.

Also, should i use any type of sealant stuff when putting the new gaskets on the header? Here is a pic of all the stuff it comes with

no sealant is necessary. no worries about not knowing it all. before i really had to work on my own car I understood the theories behind everything, but not the actual process & I had lots of questions- still do, I am in no way a full mechanic. I am just know really learning how everything goes together etc. The only way to learn is to do it. Good Luck.

Hey man, I didn't see this on any of the other posts, but you will need an exhaust manifold gasket for an 88 - 89 Acura Integra. Also, you will need to port the header to match the exhaust ports on the head. Just line your new Integra gasket up with the bolt holes on the header flange, mark where you need to remove material with a magic marker, then grind the metal away with a dremel or other grinding tool. Also, the oxygen sensor goes in the bung located right in front of the connection for the catalytic converter. You may have to extend the oxygen sensor wire if the header you bought didn't come with a wire made specifically for this purpose. Oh yeah and take the oxygen sensor out of the stock exhaust manifold before you remove it from the car. It's easier to remove it that way.

Edit: Use the plug it comes with to plug the bung in the runner closest to the head.

The header you got was made for a CRX with a D16a6 motor. The port of that is actually smaller than the DOHC ZC motors.
so it'll be pointless if you install the header without port matching it.
I rather run a stock DOHC ZC header than a Non port matched header.
like what GroundZer0 said, make sure you get the 88-89 Integra Exhaust manifold gasket. You may also use that as a template to begin porting out your header.

The exhaust manifold gasket is the large one correct? So i can just use that, and link it up on the header and use a sharpie to see how much i need to port? Also, why do i need to put the o2 sensor in the lower hole rather than the higher hole? How can i extend the wiring if needed?

yes you can just use a sharpie, and then dremel the header ports. You don't want to necessarily enlarge the ports- what you want to do is "roll" the edges so that the exhaust gases can flow smoothly through the pipes. It only takes liek 20 minutes w/ a dremel & a grinding bit. And, I guarentee there is only 1 O2 bung & your O2 sensor will fit perfect- remember I have a DOHC ZC & teh same header.

If you can use the upper o2 sensor bung, that way the sensor will heat up correctly.

If you have more then one o2 sensor the header and down pipe are not made for a ZC or ad16a6 as stated before.

Don't use the Blue RTV if it smells like Vinegar, its not good for the o2 sensor, I have seen many people use the orange.

But I have never used sealant on exhaust parts, nor does any one I know..

Put some anti-seize on the O2 sensor threads...they can be bitches to get out later.
