1st gear bogging at vtec engagement (only first gear)

1st gear bogging at vtec engagement (only first gear)
Set up = 1989 honda civichatch d16z6 turbo. Running the stock d16a6 ecu with a Vafc. Ok so if I floor it in first gear the car bogs bad when it hits 4800rpm when vtec engages. If i shift before 4800rpm in first gear no bogging. 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th gear vtec engagements are fine no bogging. Why is this? Thanks in advance.
