Default AEM CAI w/ no bypass

Ok, just swapped a b18c1 into my 93 CX hatch and of course the intake wouldn't work. I just picked up an AEM CAI locally but he didn't have the bypass valve. Is this a major problem for a week or two? As far as I know the only thing the bypass valve is needed for is so you don't hydrolock your engine. Well, it's not supposed to rain here for another week or so, so I think I should be ok.

Also, I have read a couple things about installing the GSR intake in a CX and you had to do something custom. Is this correct? I'm installing this tomorrow so any help ASAP would be appreciated.

I have an older model AEM CAI with no bypass. I have driven in all kinds of weather, and I have had the CAI on for nearly 4 years. I have NEVER encountered a problem with water, and I wouldn't imagine one would either unless you are driving through ponds.

I had my engine stall out when goin thru a puddle. It took a few minutes but it restarted, but it started throwing a CEL and I had to get a new primary O2. Rick

Thanks for the replies. I didn't think it'd be too big of a problem if I drove it around for a little while.

Now, anyone know the answer to the second question? Anything custom I have to do or does it bolt up?

Chris

my AEM cai doesnt have the bypass valve either and i have never ever had any problems with hydrolocking. true i do live in CA where we almost never get rain, but even when it had rained and i was driving through 6 inches of water, i was alright.
