Default Can I add NOS to my slow *** DX?

Is it possible to do this? What mods should I have or parts to be changed so that my engine will not toast? Anybody who has a DX with NOS?

depending on the shot you can add a block gaurd or rebuild the bottom end. Also its important to re-chip your ecu and upgrade your ignition. basic bolt ons and cam gear you will be holding a nice 75- shot

Well...99Import your on the right track. I would definalty not suggest running a 75 shot on a DX with stock internals. Your going to have to retard your timing and run colder plugs also.

built the block up most deffiently, if not your car wil be sitting on a roll back, with a brand new shinny nos bottle. Why in the hell would you TRY to make a Dx a race car? good luck

course, you can do anything you want to do. just...

follow safety precautions. and dont be a fool about it and think its fun to street race some guy who revved on you, while you showed off your N2O purge valve.

i dont recomend using it if you dont know what your getting into in the first place

i woudltn put anything more than a 50 shot on a dx engine without building it. and for the money u could build it you could do a swap.

save your money for a sohc vtec swap, or a ls swap is what i say. then u can save a little more and puit a 50-75 shot on that.

It's a dx motor who cares? Go run some guy for $200, spray a 75 shot, beat the guy, repeat until the motor blows, and go buy a B18b with the winnings. I know people on here will give away D series motors if you pick it up.

Well, the stock motor puts out about 85 WHP. Mine, with an EX head and custom turbo setup put down over 200 WHP.

A 75 shot of nitrous is going to net around 65 extra whp most likely. That's going to give you about 160 whp. Why not?

Nitrous is definitely easier on your engine than a turbo, since it is actually cooling the air/fuel mixture, rather than a heating it up and cramming more in like a turbo/supercharger will do. Typically motors can take more added power from nitrous than they can from turbo/supercharging.

My buddies had a 300 shot running on a stock Camaro for quite a while

if you do happen to run a shot on your car, DO NOT, i repeat do not chip the ecu. most chips create power by advancing ignition timing. this will definitely kill the engine. i have a 93 d15b7 (thats the dx) and i am squeezing 60 dry on it. other mods include intake, and clutch. as long as you do your research you will be fine. 50 shot is very safe on your engine, 60 is pushing it. just run 1 step colder plugs, retard 2-4 degrees, and make sure you check you guages. proper pressures are the key to the nitrous setup. i would not run wet if you are going to only run a 50. and yes you will only have 150 "ish" hp to the wheels but you will have 140"ish" ftlbs of torque to the wheels. thats a grip. run an nx or nos setup. zex is imo weak. and get some drag radials and you are in very very low 15's. hey its slow but not as slow.

i say build it and dont get a b18. a b18b has 142hp and 127 ftlb torque, you have more than that, with the shot. i run low 15's with my 60. im gettin some drag radials and i will run some 14.5's, i loose alot of traction, thats why im not in the 14's yet.
