MotoGP rider Rossi rumored to go F1
just rumors, but makes for interesting speculation. probably take a couple more years for something to open up for him in F1, meanwhile he will still continue to dominate MotoGP. i really like rossi, young champion who loves his fans, loves competition and is always first to praise his competitors either when he wins or loses. watching him race this year alone has been awesome.

Interesting. I saw his debut in a rally car not too long ago (
) and I hope his F1 testing (if it happens) goes a little better for him.
I would almost rather him stay in MotoGP just so I could actullay see all of his talent in use. Watching the back tire wriggle under braking, and watching him stick the back tire to the track, lifting the front wheel off the ground exiting a corner.
There seems to be more parity in MotoGP and definitely more excitement that there is in F1 today. I'd hate to see his F1 career fizzle out because his team sucks.

Rossi is awesome. He has an ability that it seems he was born with. I believe that he could dominate while driving anything. I would love to see him drive in F1, although I would miss seeing him race in MotoGP.

Maybe he could race for Williams, and their new Budweiser sponsored team. clicky

Rossi has been offered a serious test drive for Ferrari. whether he takes up on the offer, he's not likely going to ever race 4 wheels, at least any time soon.
I think it's contingent on him riding for Ducati, who share a common sponsor in Vodaphone. Rossi's rumored to not like the strict rules of the Ducati team and will probably wind up at Yamaha for the next MotoGP season.
There's a really well written article on SPEED's website that details all of the possibilities for Rossi and the rest of the MotoGP brigade. To call it a "silly season" is making a enormous understatement.

That would be very cool.
I know Bernie E. has been trying to convince him for the last couple of years.
If he can handle a bike at those speeds, F1 should not be so hard for him.
Hard to say for sure tho.

just an update, Rossi actually tested today with Ferrari and MS at San Marino. they say he was only 3 seconds behind MS, hell, theres a lot of currently paid drivers who can barely meet 3 seconds under MS. not that this test was any serious try out for 4 wheeling, but after proving what a great driver he was last week winning with yamaha in the first race of the season, theres nothing stopping this guy!

this proved to be either an urban legend, or Valentino relaxed his stance on that... he rides the Gauloises Yamaha now, and Gauloises is a cigarette brand.

is this guy human?
i can't imagine the transition from 2 to 4 wheels would be an easy one. then this chap goes out and drops times w/in 3s of one of the greatest drivers ever.
sheesh

yeah, its been done. actually, i remember reading last year barrichello did a test ride with some other motogp team for fun and he did alright, and admitted he was taking it slow since it was just fun laps anyway.
i actually dont imagine the sense of racing to be all that different. i think it takes the same type of skills to be a good racer of either sport, (reflexes, skill, feeling the tires, big *****).

i just thought that the way you sense what the car/bike are doing would be different. i would think the quick transitions on a bike would be very difficult for someone not used to teter-totering around.
maybe it's not as different as i thought.

I think it takes a special kind of person to be able to pull off going from 2 wheels to 4 and still kick ***. I was at my first motorcycle race this past weekend, and it was an eye opening experience. I guess when you have the natural/supernatural talent of Rossi, things people like me can only dream of come easily.

It does require different styles...at least according to N. Hayden after driving Andretti's Motorola Champ Car. Hayden's natural instinct was to keep on the throttle when the back end came around and he repeatedly spun the Champ Car. His rationale was that backing off the throttle on a loose bike was a good way to crash a bike when the rear tire regained grip.
come on, im not saying the mechanics of both are the same, im talking about the brains ability to recieve and respond to inputs. the manual differences (using the body to ride a bike, using a steering wheel) are obvious, and so are the vehicle dynamics (2 vs 4 wheels), but anyone can understand these things. its the inner ability of the brain that sets a champion apart i think.

challenge, respect. he said recently that he never felt honda treated him as much credit as the reason he won 3 championships (in a row starting from his second season in MotoGP), instead their machinery. i would think he definately got more money, but i think it was the challenge as well. so he now proved the separation between driver and technology by winning last race of Sete Giberneu in an extremely close race, who he also diced frequently and traded podiums with last season. but then again, his whole team left with him to yamaha, so that definately has a lot to do with his success.
