My car seems to consume a bit of oil. i always fill it up with 5 quarts during oil change. when its time to drain, i have around 3 1/2 -4 quarts. My compression is fine, the oil wasnt even black at 3,000 miles ,still looks yellow(i love synthetic). NO leak whatsoever, my car port and oil pan is clean, block is clean , head is clean. My friend has a 2001 prelude, with only 20k miles , it also consumes a bit too.. anyone else have this problem?
i notice a bit of black smoke when engaging vtec.. i figure that is fuel being rich

oh by the way didnt my 93' CX came with passenger side mirror? Looks like a cripple car with one arm..

 

I am running Mobil 1, and I burn oil very slowly. Could be the piston rings just wearing out, but shouldn't happen. Synthetic oil is very thin.

You're running 10w30 right?

As for the CX, in 92-93 they did not come with a passenger side mirror. It annoys the hell out of me as well lol.

 

No Im not burning an oil at all. Im using Pennziol 10W30

 

When I had my Prelude (97 SH), it burned oil at the rate you indicated maybe a bit more. Honda had said it was normal (might be a bunch of dealer BS). Some others have had oil consumption issues as well. Do you know what year it came from. Some say Honda had some ring issues in the first 2 years of production.

 

If you're really worried, and see no oil dripping from your car when parked overnight, do a leakdown test to see if your rings and seals are still good.
