Rich's Car Tunes in Watertown MA
I was talking to Rich about doing some work on my car. Has anyone on this board had dealing with Rich's Car Tunes? If so, were the results good/bad/ugly?
They have a good reputation in the industry. Also, the installations that are posted on their Website look good. The best way to find out is to look at jobs in-progress as well as completed jobs. You should be able to determine if the installation quality is up to your standards.
Also....check to see if the shop is clean (showroom and install bay). If everything looks clean and well-organized, chances are that you'll be dealing with a good company.

Thanks. I've seen completed installs, and works in progress. It all looks good.
Also, I've seen their shop, and it is clean, well lit, and well organized.
They also charge $95/hour for labor - which means he bills out more per hour than I do (managment consulting). I need to raise my rates.

The labor rate sounds a little high but it might be what's considered reasonable in your area. Are you having custom work done or just a security system install?
I've been there before and will never go back.
Went in asking about some products and got a "Were too good for you" Attitude from the Big Guy there (I was later told it was Rich) Needless to say they lost my Business. Went to Custom Auto Radio in Saugus and got much better treatment and have been friends with some of those guys for years and have spent enough with them that I hold the record for Showing up for about 6 pages on the screen when they search through reciepts
One of my Friends Jamie Perkins recently left Custom and started up his own shop, "The Car Audio Specialist" It's in Melrose, MA He is the mastermind behind such installs like Arthur "Shaker" Turgeon's Blazer, Jeff Lambs Pontiac, his own Lexus SC400 and his MX6 as well as many others.
Give him a call 781-979-0110 or check out his site http://www.TheCarAudioSpecialist.net (Check out the Installs and Media Coverage)
Tell Him Mike M. at IPS Racing sent you, he'll take care of you
I Loved this car

What in the world are you talking about?
The Front & Rear Stage are Boston Acoustics Home Speakers and are Expensive as hell. The Subs Are the Only Kicker parts that were in the car, he had to use Solobarics because of the limited size for the Subwoofer box. About 6-7 months after his install was finished Boston Acoustics finally had their Pro Series Subs that were custom made for Jamie ready to go into his car, at that time the Kicker Solobarics were pulled.

I bought my ITR used, with some nice ADS components and and nice security system. However, the rear of the car was built out with crappy particle board, and in general the installation was not very clean. So I'm cleaning up the sound system installation, rebuilding the rear, and fixing a couple of minor electric things.
Rich (the owner) does sport an attitude. He's all about selling high end, custom stuff. He's kind of like a car salesman.
