Default How to fix power windows???

Ok I have a 93 Accord and the dang window everytime goes up differently and 90% of the time allows the air to come in and its down right annoying. Can any tell me what the problem is or how to fix it? I am assuming that the window is not on the track or something, but i really don't know. Any help would be appreciated!

I actually did a search with no luck... I have tried spraying the track with silicon spray last week and that worked for a day. I have been told this is a fairly common problem, so I thought I could get an answer but I guess not. Can anyone else help?

I am having this same problem. I am considering removing the door panel and having a look. What is a "window regulator"? I don't know if it is just something loose or what.....

The motor works fine but the glass just does not raise properly. The top does not go into the weatherstripping and there is a 1/8" gap in the upper corner between the door frame and the glass.

The window regulator is the component that raises and lowers the window glass. Here is an image of a window regulator with the motor.

Most likely, before you reached this sorry state of affairs, the window was slow to close. Most Accords do this from time to time and if caught early enough; damage can be avoided.
But you're long past that.

Traditionally, several pieces require replacement. These will not only address the "window-out-of-track" sinario you're dealing with here, but the underlying cause for the whole thing. These are:
Lower Channel Guide (Front)
Lower Channel Guide (Rear)
Window Guide Run

This is a view of the 4dr version of your year Accord:

Lower Channel Guide (Front) = Item# 6/13
Lower Channel Guide (Rear) = Item# 7/14
Window Guide Run = Item# 8/15

What has happened over the course of time is that the stress of forcing the errant window up/down over time has bent the lower guides enough that there was finally enough room for the class to pop out of it's guide.

They can be repositioned, but it never lasts long once they bend. That's why I replace them.

The really aggrivating thing about all this? It's all because dirt and road grime built up in the window channel run, binding the window.

So I may need to replace the lower channel guide?

Can I buy just that part? I guess I can google that....

Also - sounds like I need to spread some lubricant around on there too.

These parts are readily available thru your local Honda Dealer. It takes two (2) to three (3) days for your dealer to get them in, depending on what time of the day you haunt them.

The illustration I presented is directly out of the Genuine Honda Parts Catalog. If you feel uncomfortable dealing with the "Parts Guy", right click the image and print out a copy (take it with you)

As to your comment about lubeing things up....
Lubricating the Window Regulator and Drive Motor gears is ok; just don't lube the window tracks. It attracts dirt and road grime (the cause of all this, remember?).

I took the door panel off yesterday and had a look around. I think it's been worked on before because the plastic moisture barrier was gone. I really couldn't "see" or access anything like I thought I would be able too. There was only a hole on the left that allowed me to see the regulator (?). I removed the door lock control which let me see the channel guide.

I really didn't have access to view anything and I didn't want to make matters worse by disconnecting or taking anything off. I lubricated everything and actually it worked MUCH better.

I got the window up into the "correct" position. This is my problem though - because it has not been going into the weatherstripping correctly, the weatherstripping is "warped" or whatever. I slid a credit card into the slot and then raised the window so that the window went into it correctly.

At that point I just left it, so I haven't raised it up/down yet to see if what I did really improved things.

What I want to know is - Can I replace the weatherstripping that goes around the window, or is there a way I can get it "loosened" back up? I thought maybe if I leave it in the "correct" position for a while that it might return to it's proper shape?

I will try to leave it for a few days before I roll it down again and then I'll see if it's any better. If not I may just take it to someone to repair, as I don't want to make it worse.

Thanks for the input guys.
