do u know what shotpeened rods is???
i hear about shotpeened rods in high powered cars, and was curouis about what is shotpeened? where can i get this done at? are there any advantages over a forged rod?how much power can it handle? and what are the price ranges?
It is a process performed to the rod that hardens the outside for a little insurence. They can still stretch and break. For all motor stock rods are usually fine. If you are worried about then just buy aftermarket rods. The rod bolts I would be more worried abou then the rod itself breaking.
Shot peening is similiar to sand blasting, but the process uses small metal beads. If i remember correctly it smoothens the metal which increases strenght.
I just shotpeened my h23 rods for my stroker setup today at work. I just put them in our cast iron head blaster for 20 minutes. Just a little insurance......
if you are going to do it right for a reliable setup, got aftermarket, crower or cunningham, i have been told my stock h23 rods will let go around 7500 if brought there a lot. And OEM rods are not cheap either
