Default what should i do.... **OFFICIAL** broken jdm tranny post

last week i broke an axle in my b16a crx and found it was due to a broken trans motor mount, since i have a crappy clutch and bad grinds from my gearbox i decided i would pull the tranny out, i have a y1 tranny from a jdm crx, i took the covers off my trans today and i have come to find that my 2nd gear on the countershaft side and 3rd gear on the mainshaft side are all tore up where the little sleeve gear selector thing (can remember the technical name for it) slides on. now i called around to a few jdm parts places about possibly finding me replacements and things are not looking good. so ive been wondering what choices i have, i refuse to pay $300 for another used "30,000 mile" jdm trans only to find its another peice of crap like mine, and as the y1 has completely differnent gearing from any usdm trans (as far as i know at least) so american honda is no help to me.

so the 2 options ive been considering are....

1. find somewhere to get the parts i need for to rebuild my y1 (can anyone point me in the right places???)

or

2. im not sure if this would even be possible as im not up on bulding hybrid trannys, but if i where to get a usdm integra ls cable trans, go through it and replace anything worn as parts should be cake to get being its a us spec trans. and put a higher final drive gear in to help get a little bit shorter gearing. this seems like a pretty good alternative to getting a used tranny that you dont know what condition its in and it shouldnt cost TOO much to do as labor is free and ls trannys arent too hard to come by. can anyone say if this setup would work out well or not?

if anyone has any better ideas on what i should do please let me know. since im sure there are alot of people out there with broken trannys in need of help besides me...

tia,
joe

You could always just shell out the cash for a remanufactured YS1 out of a USDM 92-93 GSR. It's cable, and it fits. You're talking about a grand, but thats the only option if you want a flawless tranny and you don't want to get parts for the Y1.

i messaged jdm dohc sir no responce yet.. as for a remanufactured ys1, ehhh that would be a last option, ide rebuild a junk ys1 first if i could find one, i figure for around $500 i could get the **** i need to get my y1 tranny back to flawless condition, if i can get any of those parts i need, and that would leave me with an extra $500 to spend on something else, im kinda planning on putting an lsd in my tranny whenever i figure out what im gonna do so a reman. ys1 would be kinda pointless, why pay someone else to rebuild it when im plenty capable and im gonna be in the trans anyway if i get an lsd..

Then pull a YS1 out of a 92-93 GSR and rebuild it yourself. That's what I'd do if I never wanted to be bothered with tranny problems again.

I just blew my J1 tranny. It blew it's guts out of the case near the differential housing. It has a hole about 1/2 inch long by 1/8 inch wide. What the hell should I do with this thing? Anyone want to buy it from me? Cheap! I think it can be welded up and i am guessing it will need to be rebuilt, since it blew it's gut from the inside. Oh yeah, BTW i ran mobile 1 synthetic in it for about 4,000 miles, don't know if that led to the failure, but I bet it had something to do with it's demise

LOL, if I can find one cheap, thats exactly what I'm going to do. Thats basically my plan, most of the junkyards around here thing a Honda is a Honda, so I could get a YS1 cheap if I could just find one.

i think if i cant find a decent priced y1 or anything i will build a hybrid tranny...

Did the same thing to my J1..... took off the bell housing, only to find that all the teeth on gears 1-4 had shredded completely off....... before the tranny completely seized, that is

Why not just call an engine importer and get a different trans???

Hmotors might have them... I know they carry the ZC tranny for $150....
