I origianally ordered VIS hood but they sent JSP. I just took it home anyways.
How does this look? Worth to keep it. I ordered VIS because it has the washer hole predrilled, lots of good feedbacks. The shop say all the new VIS hoods are junk, they are so thin, you can see through. VIS doesn't come with the shall they say. ???
Paid less than $430

Looks like a nice hood. My boy has a VIS CF hood. He loves it. He doesn't have hood pins and we went to the beach traveling pretty fast and there wasn't a problem. The holes for the windshield washers were there, and the hood latch was really strong.

I don't know if this is true, but maybe that shop just told you that the VIS CF was crap so you would just take that one home so they wouldn't have to send it back. But that hood right there looks really good.

 

ok one thing i have learned about CF hoods is the better quality ones have rolled edges (the cheaper ones have cut off ones) Do you see what I'm saying. From the pics you have the edges dont look rolled to me, but I cant really tell

 

No, it's not rolled. That's another thing that I liked about VIS.
They also say one company makes VIS, JSP, R1 hoods. Something I never heard of and not really convincing. could be true... what do i know.

I don't think thats true. Then it would be kind of a monopoly But if I were you I'd go up there and demand them to get my VIS hood. You spent the $ for a VIS hood and that is what you should get. Also IMO the rolled edges look better than the cut ones, also to me they would seem to hold up better too

 

they sell jsp in those ricer catalogs. i've never seen it anywhere else.

the whole point of a carbon fiber hood is that it's LIGHT WEIGHT dude! that's probably heavier than stock... look at the skeleton underneath!

also, look at the latch. it looks like it was welded on by a 5 year old. crap. send that back and get a good hood. jsp is garbage.

the hoods i've seen that have the "rolled edges" have been nice, excellent quality compared to others...

i think the shop is BS'ing you so you don't make a deal out of not getting a VIS hood..I have a VIS hood on my EK..i love it...fit perfect/looks awesome/i don't have hood pins and the day i got it..i went driving in the highway to see if it would flex or anything and it didn't..I've done up to 100 and haven't seen movement yet....VIS

You cant go wrong with VIS. There customer service department sucks, there is a minumun of a 1 month wait, but Hey! they make good hoods.

 

the VIS hood is incredible. Rolled edges, excellent fitment, just a nice hood all around. If i were you and ordered a VIS hood and got the JSP hood, i would go back and tell them that you want the VIS. If I ordered a VIS hood, i would expect to get a VIS hood, not a JSP.

the hood looks pretty heavy... my friend has a FiberImages hood on his Civic. Yes you can see light through it when the hood is up, but who cares. It only has a frame around the outer edge of the hood, which makes it extrememly light-weight. It fits pretty well, and has the FiberImages logo embossed in the gelcoat.
