which hoses? I picked up some hoses(metal, going into the condensor) and a compressor from the junk yard for 75 bucks...i guess what you're paying for is the refrigerant and labor...if you're using the older freon, i heard that's more expensive than r34(newer) freon...like i said, that's what i heard, but i could be wrong, feel free to correct me anyone
i have a leak in one of my lines as well. it's easy to change.. as long as you have decent tools and some patience. you only need the shop to discharge the freon.. i had them discharge it..drove home. took off my bumper to replace my condensor line, then drove back to get to get it recharged.
i think i forgot to oil the seals on the line, cuz there's still a leak
